It's an amazing thing, isn't it? It's something that we all experience, something that we all have but it's unique to each and every one of us. Every time I'm out in public, I can't help but look around at the hundreds of people that are around me. I can't help but wonder about what they think of the world around them. How do they perceive it? What are the things that they are most aware of?
It's funny how the word itself has so many different definitions yet really deviate towards the same direction. It's something that's there but you can't really explain it with science. You can feel it, you can experience it on a daily basis but you don't really know how it works. Maybe that's part of the magic, part of the mystique of it. Everything that we take in from the world around us becomes part of our consciousness. It helps us develop intellectually, in a sense, and emotionally.
It helps us create our sense of self from our personalities and traits, all the way to our likes and dislikes in all manner of things. A person who's constantly surrounded by games, comics and movies will become the known gamer geek as is a person surrounded by literature and constantly taking it in be it from parents, school or other will most likely be more of a book/literature worm than any.
Another example is when you're sitting in a group where people are talking. Some people find themselves more aware to hidden undertones, to hidden message within body language. Other people listen in on the tone of voice. Some could be completely unaware of what's going on. Ten people could go through the same ride on Disney but the experience is unique to each and every one of them.
It's like when they say "Not all people see the same shade of red". It's a fascinating subject that could be discussed for hours and I thought I'd share a small snippet of my fascination with everyone else.
